Iloilo is Steve's hometown and it is the ancestral home for his family for almost a century ever since his great grandfather, then serving with the United States Army migrated to the islands and raised his family.

Steve is a fourth generation French, while some of his relatives migrated back to the United States, he remains in the Philippines because of his deep rooted relationship and friendship established through out his entire life in Iloilo City.
